With back to school just around the corner, Recitation is here to help you stay organized and on top of your academics. Here are our tips and tricks for using Recitation to maximize your success both in and out of school.
Setting up Recitation

Classes: Once you know your schedule, start by adding all your classes to Recitation. You can specify the color and icon for each course, as well as select the class dates, meet times, and location. Teachers: You can add all your professors to Recitation along with their emails, office hours, and office location. This keeps all that important information in once easy and accessible place.
Custom Reminders: You can set up custom reminders to alert you of upcoming tasks. Here are a few examples of helpful custom reminders:
If you often have tasks due at midnight, you can set up a 36 hr reminder to remind you at noon the day before your assignment is due
Set up an exam reminder to always be reminded a week before your exams to give you of plenty of time to study
Google Calendar: If your school uses Canvas or Google Calendar, you can import that calendar to Recitation so that your assignments are automatically added. See this tutorial for a step by step guide!
Maximizing your Organization
Now that you have set up Recitation, learn how to maximize your organization and stay on top of your academics.
Prioritization and Tags: Add various levels of priority to your assignments as well as specify the task type with a tag. This allows for easy sorting and filtering of your tasks, helping you quickly identify what needs immediate attention and what can be scheduled for later.
Different Views: Since every student has their preferred method of organizing their study schedule, Recitation offers a day view, week view, and an upcoming assignments list. The day view lets you focus on your immediate tasks, ensuring you stay on top of daily responsibilities. The week view provides a broader perspective, allowing you to plan and balance your workload over several days. The upcoming assignments list keeps you aware of all overdue and future deadlines, helping you prioritize and avoid last-minute cramming.
myDay: This is a way of using live activities to keep track of your schedule. Press the myDay icon to begin and your schedule for the day will automatically appear on your lock screen so you know where to go and when!
Pomodoro: Recitation's built-in Pomodoro timer is a game-changer for students seeking to optimize their study sessions. With just a few taps, you can set timers for your study intervals, track your progress, and seamlessly transition between work and rest periods.
